How Long Does it Take to Change the Music on Thouzer?

Accepted Answer

Once you know what you're doing, it takes about 5 minutes to change the flute music on Thouzer to something custom.That said, the first time will take longer since you need to install Audacity, read through the instructions, etc.  If you're changing ALL of the files at once, it might take upwards of 30 minutes.  It really depends on how quickly you can edit, prepare, and export your source audio files.

Can I Change the Music Remotely?

Unfortunately at this time there is no way to change the music remotely.  This may sound like a pain, but remember Thouzer is different and doesn't require WiFi for its operation!

Can I Record My Own Voice?

Sure!  In fact, you can use Windows Sound Recorder to record your prompts on your own computer.  Those prompts will be saved in .m4a format, not mp3, but there's a free plugin you can add to Audacity that will let you import and edit your own voice recordings

My IT Department Won't Let Me Install Audacity.  Now What?

I haven't found one to endorse yet, but there are probably online audio converters you can use instead.  Just remember the final export needs to be a mono .mp3 file in either 64kbps or 32kbps quality with no metadata attached.If you already have an online audio file converter you like, I'd love to hear about it in the comments below or through our chat tool.

Do You Have Instructions for Mac?

Unfortunately we all run Windows over here at JLC so I don't; HOWEVER, Audacity is also available for Mac.  The steps for changing Thouzer music with a Mac should be pretty similar to Windows.

Do You Have More Audio Files We Can Try?

Accepted Answer

No, not really.  We don't own any music of our own so we can't offer any, legally speaking.There are some sample sounds on the Patlite website, and if you Google "royalty free music" or "free music" you can probably find other stuff to use.  Heck, these days you can even use generative AI to make your very own custom music tracks!

What is the Thouzer Music File Format?

The 'speaker device' on Thouzer only reads MP3s.  If you have audio files in another format, you can easily convert them using free tools like Audacity.

Question 8

If I Mess This Up, Will it Break the Robot?

Accepted Answer

The short answer is no.  Because Thouzer's music is played from an external device, it's pretty well isolated from the brain of the robot, so even if you mess up the music change, Thouzer should run normally.
