The Thouzer Difference

Why Thouzer AGVs? How are we different?

Most robotic automation companies say their solution is the best thing sliced bread and the last material handling solution you'll ever need.  Not us.

We love the Thouzer AGV, but it's just not a good fit for everyone and every application, and we're fine with that!  Here are some common scenarios where Thouzer might not be a good fit for you.

Do you like mobile robots with only one operational mode?

Uh-oh!

Thouzer AGV has three: Collaborative "Follow Me" mode as well as fully autonomous "Memory Trace" and "Line Trace" (AGV+) modes.

Do you like mobile robots that are good at carrying things but bad at towing things?

Uh-oh!

Thouzer AGV is really good at towing.  In fact, it can pull up to 600kg worth of carts, dollys, pallets, and pallet jacks while carrying up to 300kg on the robot itself.

Do you like spending days, weeks, or months setting up a new piece of equipment before you can use it?

Uh-oh!

Once you have unboxed and assembled your Thouzer AGV, it only takes a few minutes to put it to work for you.

Do you like spending a lot of time training your staff on new equipment?

Uh-oh!

Most people master Thouzer AGV within fifteen to thirty minutes.

Do you like working with your IT department to deploy new software to the factory floor?

Uh-oh!

Thouzer AGV requires no fleet management software for command and control.

Do you like buying all your robot accessories and replacement parts from an OEM so they don't void your warranty?

Uh-oh!

There are plenty of ways to modify and customize Thouzer AGV with third-party accessories, peripherals, and in-house fabricated structures without voiding your warranty.

Obviously the boxes above were meant to be humorous but they're also truthful.  Thouzer IS easy to use and there are lots of ways it can solve your material handling challenges.  Here are some important things to remember though.

Thouzer is an AGV, not an AMR

Firstly, Thouzer is an automated guided vehicle (AGV), not an autonomous mobile robot (AMR).  That means once you teach Thouzer a route, it will never deviate from that route, even if the route is blocked.

On one hand, this is great because Thouzer's operation is simple and predictable.  You never have to worry about a Thouzer AGV getting lost while trying to reroute around an obstruction.

On the other hand, if someone leaves a box sitting in the middle of the path Thouzer is trying to follow, Thouzer will never route around the box.  It will simply wait until the obstruction is cleared and then continue on its way.

Thouzer Basic pulling a cart while following a Line Trace path

Simple

Many mobile robots take a long time to set up - especially AMRs.  First, you have to connect to the robot using a laptop or tablet just to begin.  Then you have to map the robot's environment, tell the robot where it is (not) allowed to operate, set up the navigational waypoints, assign missions, and THEN you can finally put your robot to work.

Doesn't that sound complicated?  Yeah.  We agree.  Thouzer AGVs were designed to be easy to learn, easy to use, and easy to maintain.  Once you unbox and power on your unit, you can literally put it to work with the press of a single button - no laptop, tablet, smartphone or pendant required.

Powerful

Thouzer AGVs were built for factory work.  They handle uneven floors, gentle grades, and indoor/outdoor environments, and can even move up to 2000lbs of material per machine.  And did we mention they do all this at speeds up to 5mph and run for upwards of 12 miles between charges?  (7.5kph for up to 20km)

And this is all before we start adding useful options like fast-charging batteries, wireless charging, custom towing packages for your existing carts, custom payloads, etc.

Affordable

Believe it or not, Thouzer automated guided vehicles start well under $30,000.  We try to make these AGVs as easy as possible to buy.

  • No server hardware, software, or licensing needed.
  • Deploy in minutes, not days/weeks/months
  • No costly deployment services
  • No expensive engineers for re/programming

Sound Too Good to be True?

It's not!  If you want a simple way to boost your efficiency and take some load off your workers, Thouzer AGV is a great way to do it.

Three Simple Navigation Modes

Thouzer AGVs offer three different navigation modes.  None of them require any kind of programming or smart device to use.  You don't have to map out your entire facility or spend a lot of time training up your employees.  If you want an automation product rather than a long, drawn-out automation project, Thouzer AGV is the way to go.

Follow Me

Follow Me allows an operator to press a single button to make the Thouzer "lock on" and follow him or her around completely hands-free.  This technology is a dream come true for warehouse workers.

Memory Trace

Memory Trace allows a Thouzer AGV to learn fixed routes through your facility, then replay a route completely autonomously without the need for mapping the facility beforehand.

Line Trace

Thouzer Line Trace Navigation allows you to design complex route through your plant for Thouzer to run completely autonomously.  Use location IDs to send Thouzer exactly where it's needed the most.

Still have questions?

That's completely understandable!  With all the AGVs, AMRs, AGCs, and other automation alphabet soup out there, it's really hard to figure out which solution might be the right fit for you and your company.

Let us help you!  We think our AGVs are pretty great but they're not for everyone and that's OK.  Send us your questions and we'll get you pointed in the right direction, even if that direction is somewhere else.
