Nissan Manufacturing Innovation Summit 2022

Well folks, it's getting cooler outside and the leaves are starting to change colors so that must mean it's Manufacturing Month!  I'm not looking forward to the colder weather, but I AM looking forward to the facility tours happening all over the US this week as part of Manufacturing Day and  I'm really excited for Nissan Manufacturing Innovation Summit 2022!

The Nissan Manufacturing Innovation Summit first began in 2017 as a collaboration between the Nissan plant in Smyrna, Tennessee and the local chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.  Nissan engineers from all over the country fly in to middle Tennessee to see the latest and greatest in manufacturing technology from a variety of Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers.

At NMIS you'll find a bunch of the usual suspects including Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Rockwell Automation, Siemens, and Sumitomo.  Also present and perhaps less expected are software companies like Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, and Tableau.

All in all this event has about fifty vendor booths, two days of vendor breakout sessions, and the occasional golf outing.  There are lots of amazing vendors here, but make sure you stop by and see us in booth 42.  That's right!

We are at the Nissan Manufacturing Innovation Summit in booth 42!

If you're at the show, please come by the booth and introduce yourself; otherwise, bookmark this page because we'll be sharing updates throughout the event to show you all the cool stuff at the show.  Thanks for reading!

Day One

This Nissan truck (SUV?) chassis is sitting right in the lobby of the training center.  Pretty cool stuff.

Russ and Cody from 3D Infotech are our "booth buddies" this week.  They're right across the floor from us in Booth 47.  3D Infotech is a metrology automation company.  No, they don't change the weather - that's meteorology.  Metrology is the study of measurement and 3D Infotech has it down to a science.  Their solution is pretty amazing if you're finding your CMM is having a hard time keeping up.  Check out this video of their equipment measuring a Harley-Davidson throttle body!

Day Two

Today we got a chance to spend a little time with Brady Neal and his colleagues from Atlas Copco.  Brady was kind enough to show us the latest and greatest integrated tooling and smart tools / smart assembly line components.

Last but not least, we wanted to visit the Fanuc booth to see what the the latest and greatest technology is at this market leader.  Enjoy!

I've enjoyed working with technology ever since I was a little kid. I started with prepackaged electronics kits building simple radios when I was in elementary school, then worked my way up to computer networking in high school and college.
After college I spent 15 years doing enterprise IT consulting before moving into industrial automation and material handling with Thouzer and CaPow. I would love to connect with you on LinkedIn!
